EX-B760M-V5 D4 vs PRIME B760-PLUS: Memory and M.2 Differences

These two INTEL B760 board records share LGA1700, yet their memory and storage details must be checked separately. The comparison below draws from each linked ASUS specification; it is a reference for narrowing a purchase, not a substitute for either current manual.

The documented platform facts

EX-B760M-V5 D4: LGA1700, DDR4, 2 DIMM slots, chipset text “Intel ® B760 Chipset”. PRIME B760-PLUS: LGA1700, DDR5, 4 DIMM slots, chipset text “Intel ® B760 Chipset”. The values come from different model pages even where the platform family is shared.

Memory purchase decision

The maker pages list different memory generations: EX-B760M-V5 D4 uses DDR4, while PRIME B760-PLUS uses DDR5. A kit for one cannot be transferred to the other on the basis of the shared INTEL-B760 chipset.

For a real build, check the full memory kit SKU, CPU family, populated slot count and tested speed in the QVL for the board you choose. A DDR label gives physical generation, not an EXPO/XMP result or guaranteed four-DIMM operation.

M.2 slot evidence by model

EX-B760M-V5 D4 has 2 distinct M.2 slot IDs in the checked technical text; PRIME B760-PLUS has 3. This count is a guide to investigate, not proof that all slots are usable with every CPU.

EX-B760M-V5 D4 storage entries: M2_1: NVMe, lengths 2242/2260/2280, PCIe 4.0 x4; M2_2: NVMe, lengths 2242/2260/2280, PCIe 4.0 x4.

PRIME B760-PLUS storage entries: M2_1: NVMe, lengths 2242/2260/2280, PCIe 4.0 x4; M2_2: NVMe, lengths 2211/2242/2260/2280, PCIe 4.0 x4; M2_3: NVMe, lengths 2242/2260/2280, PCIe 4.0 x2.

A slot mentioned in a product specification can still have CPU-family or shared-lane restrictions. Read the current manual's storage table, especially if you will use more than one drive or a PCIe expansion card.

CPU, BIOS and board revision

Both records use LGA1700, but that does not make an exact CPU automatically supported by both boards. Search each ASUS CPU support list for the actual processor SKU and stepping, then compare its listed BIOS against the firmware installed on the board. A retailer listing cannot establish the installed BIOS or PCB revision.

Choose using your actual parts

First eliminate any board with the wrong DDR generation for your existing kit. Next map each SSD to a documented slot and check length, protocol, lane sharing and heatsink clearance. Finally confirm the CPU BIOS condition and needed ports. If either specification omits a critical field, treat this comparison as a research starting point and use the linked maker manual before ordering.
